Journeys of Resilence

Within our Summer Programme 2024 ‘Journeys of Resilience’, welcomed over 2,500 people across the 9 days, with 3 new commissions, plus saw sell out performances in our theatre and lounge cinema.

Our exhibition ‘Journeys of Resilience’ shared stories of the Windrush generation, created in collaboration with our diasporic communities in Boscombe. The exhibition features artists films, ‘Simon Says/Dadda’ by Beverley Bennett and ‘I Carry It With Me Everywhere’ by Arwa Aburawa and Turab Shah, an installation ‘Yam, on Sundays’ by Barbara Majek, art project Windrush Echoes by Kemba Earle and two collaborative artworks from our women’s Seeking Refuge group. Postcards created during workshops held in local schools, led by Access BEAF resident artists, Sharon James and Karina West, were also be displayed, as well as a study area where visitors could contribute their own thoughts on migration and home.
