4th May 2019 | 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Events at Bournemouth Natural Science Society:

Museums are traditionally places of silence. Artefacts displayed in glass cases become objects of quiet visual contemplation, even though sound is a central feature of our culture and society. To tell the story of modern science, we therefore need to make more of a noise! Ecoacoustics is an emerging interdisciplinary field that lies at the interface of art and science. Come and explore this fascinating discipline!
Interactive sound installations (10am – 4pm)- Listen to the sounds of Dorset ecosystems that will be transformed in response to visitors’ movements.
Workshops (10am – 12.30pm)- Join in to SoundWalks and practical introduction to sound recording and editing. Booking essential: https://tinyurl.com/y5abc4fo

Performance programme of live and pre-recorded sound works (1pm – 4pm)- Artists will be exploring environmental change through ecoacoustic approaches, broadcast via radio headphones.
