June 30 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm£3 – £10
BEAF TAKEOVER CHAPLIN’S
A real treat for everyone interested in new female voices with a mix of folk, jazz and electronics, creating a unique sit-down evening of music.
Over an array of unconventional guitar tunings, Ruth Theodore sings stories of the known universe with captivating vocal dexterity and poetic originality. Ruth moves almost recklessly between pacey political passages, stomping slide guitar, and enchanting piano pieces that conjure the compositional freedom of a young Keith Jarrett, with the timeless qualities of such artists as Carole King and Nina Simone.
Extraordinary” – The Guardian ★★★★
“Confident, assured and truly unique” – Fatea Magazine
Alternative artist who’s been circling the British live scene for the last few years. Welcomed by Folk and Americana communities alike, studio production is now hinting to her childhood background in Classical and Jazz.
Part of electronic soul quartet, Noya Rao, vocalist Olivia Ghattacharjee is a composer as well as song writer in her own right.
