Many of the events for the festival are being developed with and by our community. As we build up for the big launch, artists taking part joined us in Boscombe on the 21 & 22 April for some pre-festival events and activities.
Over the course of 2 days Brendan Barry brought his camera caravan to outside B.A.D. capturing portraits of people passing by. Brendan is working with us at BEAF 2023 to create a large camera obscura in Boscombe Arts Depot. Keira Rathbone was typing eyes from her typewriter on Boscombe precinct. The live ‘typics’ that she created will form an art trail as part of BEAF 2023 Festival.
Ian Wornast’s flags were also installed along Bosocmbe precinct and the Sovereign Centre. We have commissioned Ian to create new semi-abstract flags in response to Boscombe and its architecture that have filled the streets with colour.
The flags will be visible throughout our festival and are part an ongoing BEAF placemaking project to enliven Boscombe high-street, first commissioned in 2021 and funded by Bournemouth Coastal BID and supported by Boscombe Sovereign Centre. Ian Wornast, is an artist from ActionSpace, an exceptional visual arts development agency for learning disabled artists.
Thank you to everyone that came and got involved with the activities.
You can read more about each artist involved in our festival in June by visiting our programme of events.
