The Outsiders Project
The Outsiders Project amplifies the voices of those often marginalised and unheard.
Through creativity, we show that people sidelined from society can create work of outstanding quality and worth, leading to positive outcomes in health and well-being, employment, education and training.
The Outsiders Project was set up by Nell Leyshon- novelist, playwright, and deputy chair of Shakespeare’s Globe. It started with one piece of work made for BEAF Festival in 2018. Since then we have grown and created multiple performances, toured our work to prisons, and produced publications and exhibitions. We run weekly workshops in both creative writing and photography, and host regular scratch events to support our artists- helping them find their voices and creating a welcoming creative community.
About Us
The Outsiders Project started with one piece of work made for BEAF Festival. From this we have built an organisation around the artists we work with.
Workshops and Mentoring
We run weekly creative writing workshops throughout the year with marginalised communities in Boscombe. No experience is necessary for all of our workshops.
